How to Style a Cape

Earlier in the season, I made a post about 8 trends I wanted to try this season. Even though Capes didn’t make the list, it was definitely a trend I was looking forward to wearing. There’s just something about a Cape that is so elegant and classy. I feel like I give off major Rich Aunty vibes when I’m wearing a Cape (shawl or wrap). Whether it be a tradition cape (like the grey one I’m wearing ) or something more modern (like my sweater cape), the cape as so much sophistication to a look.

As much as I’d like to think you can just throw on a cape and be instantly chic, there are a few styling tips I’d like to give to elevate your cape look even more. Here is my advice on how to style a cape.

Outfit details:
COS Cape/Sweater
Zara Pants (love these)

Try a bright Color
Like the red (sweater) cape I’m wearing this post, brightly colored cape really up the wow factor of any outfit.

Wear with long gloves
Long gloves was one of the trends I spoke about on my trends I’d like to try post and wearing them with a cape is a match made in heaven. Think Audrey Hepburn.

Add Gold Jewelry
Gold Jewelry alone gives major sophistication to a look but pair it with a cape and you’ve taken it next level. There is nothing better than a Gold hoop/earring and a cape.

Throw one side over the opposite shoulder
This is a styling trick that both, helps you to stay warm and makes a cape even more interesting. Try styling your cape by throw one end over the opposite shoulder (like I am in some of my photos)

Well I hope you enjoyed some of these tips on how to style a cape. I would love to hear about if you would where a cute cape this fall/winter season in the comments
