18 Black Fashion, Beauty and lifestyle businesses to support

The past two weeks have been some of the most emotionally intense two weeks, to say the least. As a black women entrepreneur and one who feels an innate responsibility to be an integral part in this movement, I have been on a world wind of up and down emotions.

One of the things that has made me truly smile in the past few days was the huge promotion of black business. For the first time, black businesses have gotten a much needed spotlight from the masses and I would like to do more light shining and introduce you all to 18 black fashion, beauty and lifestyle brands that you should support. Not just now, always!

Fashion

Hanifa– Hanifa’s line is fun fashionable and a cult favorite. She recently did an innovated 3D virtual Fashion show that had every one talking. I have since ordered 2 pieces from the collection and can’t wait to share them here.

Cushnie– Along with their amazing luxury line, Cushnie just launch a collection with Target that is sure to sell out. I’ve already got a few pieces. You can shop my favorite here.

Fe Noel– Another amazing luxury brand that does resort like no one else.

Brother Vellies– One of favorite, and most asked about, pairs of shoes are from Brother Vellies. Brother Vellies was founded by Aurora James, who makes a point to use black artisans from places like Africa and Haiti and pay them truly fair wages for their work.

Andrea Iyamah– If you’re looking for a swimsuit that will wow the crowd on any beach, look no further than Andrea Iyamah. She also designs show stopping clothing.

Beauty

Shea Moisture– I’ve been using Shea Moisture for years now on my hair and skin and can’t sing the praises of their products enough. My favorites line from shea moisture is their Jamaican Black castor oil line.

Mielle– Mielle is another hair care brand that I absolutely love. The brand is sold at Target.

The Lipbar – Lip bar is a great cosmetic company that makes some of the best lipstick. I have a growing collection myself. You can also shop them here at Target

Mented– I’ve just discovered Mented but just ordered one of their amazing eye shadow palettes

  1. Trisha Penn/ Real Estate – I would be remiss if I didn’t mention my own business as a real estate agent. If you or any one you know is looking for a hard working real estate agent in NYC (or any where else for that matter, I have a get agent referral database), I would love to assist.
  2. Sabine Franco/ Attorney – Sabine is an fantastic Real Estate Attorney serving the NYC and NJ area
  3. McBride Sister’s Wine – McBride Sister’s wine is one of the largest black owned wine companies in America. As a self proclaimed wine enthusiast, I can say that their wine is also really really good.
  4. Neffi Walker/ Interior Design – Neffi is wonderful interior design, who work has graced many interior magazines and has done project for celebs.
  5. Brown and Co cleaning service – I’ve used Brown and co in my own home and they’s done a wonderful job. They serve the New York and New Jersey area.
