How to make a vision board

If you checked out yesterday’s post, you know that I talked about setting goals and getting your goals out on paper. Well one of the ways that I like to do that is by making a vision board. This is my 4th year doing a vision board (one year I even made a brunch out of it see this post here )and I really believe that they help you to manifest what you want in your life. I’m such a firm believe, that I decided to make this post on how to make a vision board, for those of you who don’t know how or never tried make one.

The premise behind making a vision board is, having photos, phrases and quotes that will help you visualize and motivate you toward your goals. The first step to making a vision board is gathering the materials.

You’ll need:

  • A poster board
  • Glue or tape
  • Scissors
  • Magazines, newpapers
  • printed images and words (optional)
  • Markers, stickers, glitter (optional)

Once you have all of the materials you want, it’s time to create! I like to start by designating the portion of the poster board I’m going to put each subject matter. Some of the subjects I like to cover with my vision board are: health and wellness, family/relationship,  business/career goals, travel and personal growth and volunteerism. Next, I start cutting out any and everything I think will  be a great representation of my goals for the year. So for instance, I might cut out a great quote about getting fit and put that on the board in my heath and wellness section. This is definitely not the only way to organize your board, this is just the way that I found that works for me.

Once you have everything cut out, it time to arrange where you want to put everything. I like to put everything on the board, without gluing, just to make sure I have space to put each piece and to make sure it looks good and cohesive. After that, it’s time to glue. Glue everything in place and try not to get too messy (I warn of this because I usually get the glue everywhere). After you’re done gluing, feel free to add hand written messages, arrows, doodles ect.

Check over your board to make everything is nice and secure to the board and that you have included everything you want to manifest this year. Let the glue dry for about an hour and just like that your done!

I prefer to see my board every morning. It puts me in the right mind frame before work, so I hung my board on the back of my bedroom door. Wherever you choose to hang your vision board, make sure its somewhere you can see it often so you can stay motivated to work towards those goals.

I hope this was helpful to those interested in trying to make a vision board. If you decided to make one or are already a pro at it, I would love to hear your experience and how it’s worked for you in the comments!
